Mira Desktop personalises your Windows 11 desktop with wallpapers, widgets, companions and a taskbar. Here is how Mira manages its background work and handles your data.
What does Gaming mode do?
Gaming pauses Mira desktop and Hub animations and throttles Mira’s own processes. Its hidden WebViews receive a lower memory target. A detected game can optionally receive a higher process priority. Mira does not close other programs. The FPS display measures the frame rate of supported games; it does not increase FPS.
What does Power saving mode do?
Power saving pauses videos, shaders and demanding animations. Companions use a target rate of 30 frames per second. On battery-powered devices, Mira can also lower brightness and enable Windows power saving if you have enabled those options.
How much RAM and processing power does Mira use?
Usage depends on your PC, selected content and desktop mode. A still wallpaper is less demanding than videos, shaders or many animated elements. Mira reduces its own background work during gaming and when content is hidden. Without comparable measurements, we do not promise a fixed RAM figure, zero measurable load or a guaranteed FPS increase.
Does Mira keep working behind other windows?
When the desktop is covered, Mira can pause rendering its desktop content. Hub previews rest after three seconds without focus. Pause settings also control behaviour when the screen is locked, during gaming and when content is hidden. Not every background function is stopped; clocks or timers may still be needed.
Which desktop mode should I choose?
Native Light styles the actual Windows taskbar and uses a static Windows wallpaper. Hybrid adds animated wallpapers beneath desktop icons. Overlay uses a separate design layer and the Mira dock. Widgets and companions are optional. Native Light and Hybrid integrate with the Windows interface; Windows updates may require adjustments.
Where do my designs and personal data stay?
Designs, widgets, notes and settings are stored locally on your PC. A Mira account is optional. When you explicitly save designs to your account or use online features, the data needed for those functions is processed. Optional services such as weather or Spotify may fetch data directly from their providers. The privacy policy explains these data flows and your rights.
How does Mira protect sign-in details and Windows access?
The sign-in token for your optional Mira account is stored in Windows Credential Manager. Access to Windows functions is defined separately for different app windows. Online services have their own optional data flows, explained in the privacy policy. Contact support with questions about permissions or your account.
